In July of 2000, our 4-month-old son Tyler was killed in a rollover car crash. The Evenflo child safety seat he was riding in broke and allowed him to be ejected from the car. As a result, Tyler died from massive head trauma. After learning our child safety seat had failed at the time we needed it most, we were very angry and felt like Evenflo should be held accountable. Evan Douthit and our Montana counsel did an outstanding job escorting us through all the legal hoops and bringing our case to trial. They always did their best to explain things to us and keep us updated on what was happening. They laughed with us and cried with us along our journey to trial and truly became our friends. This past July, exactly 7 years to the day after we lost our son, we took Evenflo to court and won a $10.4 million dollar verdict, the largest infant death verdict in the state of Montana. We couldn't have done it without Evan's knowledge and skill as a lawyer. He will forever have a place in our lives as our attorney, but more importantly as our friend. -Chad and Jessie Malcolm I had the privilege of being introduced to Paula Brown in 2003 when I was named as a defendant in a lawsuit involving a patient in the practice I was employed at as a nurse practitioner. This was my first lawsuit. I had no experience in malpractice law and found the process to be intimidating and frustrating. My professional confidence was bruised and self-doubt plagued me. Not only did Paula provide me with an outstanding legal defense, she helped restore my confidence as a competent nurse practitioner. She educated me on the legal process (including all that difficult language), kept me informed of what was going on with the suit, and assisted me in reflection of the situation in a realistic manner. I count my blessings that I was fortunate to meet Paula and to have her defend me. I would highly recommend Paula to anyone needing an attorney for legal defense. -Della Taylor-McIntosh FNP “My husband had a very serious car accident in which he suffered devastating injuries. I went to Evan, Doug and Randy for help. I use their first names because they became more than our attorneys . . . they became part of our family. Everyone at Douthit Frets Rouse Gentile & Rhodes was very caring. They were concerned for our welfare and attentive to our need to be kept on top of what was going on every step of the way. They took the time to answer the big and little questions we had. We thank them so much for their excellent work because it has given us a new start in our new life. Hope happened there.” -Donna Hartman “What can we say about Doug Gentile (and his firm)? Try compassionate. Considerate. Great listeners. Honest. Straightforward. Trustworthy. When we went to see Doug, we had been basically "swept aside" by another, rather large law firm in Kansas City. We were extremely skeptical. Doug listened and he explained to us in a straightforward manner what steps we needed to take to recover what Elvin felt was the most important part of our lawsuit . . . his dignity. Doug and his team put together a successful strategy that did just that! We both consider that having Doug and his firm represent us was an absolute blessing. From the moment we met Doug, we knew that we could place our trust in him, he was all of the afore-mentioned. We will always be grateful to Doug for representing us.” -Cindy and Elvin E. Barchers, Jr. “On July 13, 2000, our lives were changed forever. Our 19 year old daughter was in a serious vehicle accident. While her car was stopped in a construction zone, it was rear-ended by a tractor/trailer going 72 miles per hour. Our precious child suffered a traumatic brain injury. She was taken via life-flight helicopter to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Having worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years, I knew my daughter needed a professional, hard working legal team. Evan Douthit and Randy Rhodes were those professionals. Their focus was always the best interest of our daughter – what would she need to secure her future. Because we had complete confidence in their abilities, we were able to concentrate on her and her medical care. Now, seven years after the accident, they are still there to assist her if the need arises. We will always be grateful to Evan, Randy (the younger, better looking partner) and their entire team that worked so diligently and with such tenacity for our child.” -Linda and Robert Lowe |
