After earning her Bachelors of Science degree from Louisiana State University in 1979 in International Trade and Finance, Mary received her Juris Doctorate degree from Louisiana State University Law Center in 1982, where she graduated Order of the Coif (top 10%). She was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 1982 and practiced there in the litigation arena until 1989. After moving to the Kansas City, Missouri area in 1989, she was admitted to practice in Missouri in 1990. Mary joined the firm in 2003 and will become a member effective January 2008. Mary has litigation experience in a broad spectrum of cases in state and federal courts in Missouri and Kansas. She has successfully defended medical malpractice claims against physicians and hospitals. She has particular experience in medical malpractice claims involving patient falls. She also has a wide variety of experience in litigation matters involving employment law, including claims involving sexual harassment and discrimination, wrongful termination, and disability discrimination. She also has experience in general litigation matters, automobile liability, premises liability, civil rights, commercial litigation, and contract disputes. Mary has experience in bench and jury trials, mediation and appeals. Mary is a frequent lector and volunteer at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa, Kansas. She also devotes time as a volunteer at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park, Kansas and recently served as the Chairman of the Parent Committee on the Parent Guild. She also participates in various fund-raising activities for the school.
